History

Hyde joined the North Umberland Order of Mountainwalkers at a very young age. One of very few gnomes ever to train with the Order, Hyde's wise and dextrous nature and affinity for simple spells quickly overcame his physical weakness. His main acheivments were in archery. By age 30, he had become renouned for his archery talents and began to tour the mountains regions, impressing peasants with trick shots and taking in donations for the order.

Much of this money disappeared before it ever reached North Umberland. Hyde has a weakness for women and no concept of value. He will often give gifts worth thousands of platinum to lady friends with no expectation of reciprocity. Ironically, he despises prostitutes for reducing the purity of emotion to economic necesity, preferring to seduce the "innocent" wives and daughters of his associates.

This desire for owned women may have gotten him in to trouble on numerous occasions were it not for a silver tongue and a fiercely determined outlook. Some men have even offered their women to him in exchange for friendship, favors and problems dealt with.

Goals

Selvan's main drive in life is fame -- specifically, fame as an archer and a lover. He adventures solely as a means to the improvement of his skill. All money he receives is quickly disposed of on gifts, donations, and occasionally on items directly applicable to his interests (bows, arrows, magical protection against sexually trasmitted diseases).
